Welcome to Scenes of Kentucky!
I am Ed Newell a Winchester, KY based photographer with a passion for photographing Kentucky’s beautiful landscape scenes. Having a great love of the outdoors, I appreciate all of the natural beauty that surrounds us each day. Upon exploring different genres of photography it soon became apparent to me that my personal satisfaction came from photographing Kentucky landscape scenes. As a landscape photographer, there is never a lack of subject material for around every bend in the road, Kentucky is full of wonderful scenic photo opportunities. Landscape scenes are probably one of the most photographed subjects, so I have tried to develop my own style of photography and decided to make Kentucky the main theme of my work. I prefer the early morning hours for my photography, which can sometimes produce a surreal scene, especially with fog. Scoping out an area searching for the best vantage point to try and capture an image is also an enjoyable part of the adventure. I may return to the same location many times to try and capture an image when the conditions all come together for what I feel is a scene that others will be inspired by when they see the beauty of Kentucky, as I see it through my camera. In 2010, I had the honor of being juried into the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen as an exhibiting member. It is the state’s oldest and most prominent arts organization.
